love is waiting

Waiting.

It's my caution not the cold
there's no other hand that i would rather hold
the climate changes, I'm singing for the strangers about you
don't keep time, slow the pace
Honey hold on if you can
the bets are getting surer now that you're my man

I'll be waiting for you baby
I'll be holding back the darkest night
Love is waiting til we're ready, til it's right
Love is waiting

Orthodoxy

"But what we suffer from to-day is humility in the wrong place.
Modesty has moved from the organ of ambition. Modesty has settled
upon the organ of conviction; where it was never meant to be.
A man was meant to be doubtful about himself, but undoubting about
the truth; this has been exactly reversed. Nowadays the part
of a man that a man does assert is exactly the part he ought not
to assert--himself. The part he doubts is exactly the part he
ought not to doubt--the Divine Reason. Huxley preached a humility
content to learn from Nature. But the new sceptic is so humble
that he doubts if he can even learn. Thus we should be wrong if we
had said hastily that there is no humility typical of our time.
The truth is that there is a real humility typical of our time;
but it so happens that it is practically a more poisonous humility
than the wildest prostrations of the ascetic. The old humility was
a spur that prevented a man from stopping; not a nail in his boot
that prevented him from going on. For the old humility made a man
doubtful about his efforts, which might make him work harder.
But the new humility makes a man doubtful about his aims, which will make him stop working altogether." -- Chesterton

Malachi 1:6-14

Careless worship -
"It makes a person bored with God and excited about the world. If you don't see the greatness of God then all the things that money can buy can become very exciting. If you can't see the sun, you will be impressed with a street light. If you've never felt thunder and lightning, you'll be impressed with fireworks. And if you turn your back on the greatness and majesty of God, you'll fall in love with a world of shadows and short-lived pleasures." - John Piper

Let Me Be A Woman

"The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian does make me a different kind of woman."

the righteous shall walk by faith

"speak to me and show me who you are, rescue me with your unfailing love and mercy" - aaron shust, stillness

Matthew 8:5-13

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."
Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."

The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

a refuge for the poor
a shelter from the storm

this is our God

he will wipe away your tears
and return your wasted years

this is our God

a father to the orphan
a healer to the broken

this is our God

he brings peace to our madness
and comfort in our sadness

this is our God

a fountain for the thirsty
a lover for the lonely

this is our God

he brings glory to the humble
and crowns for the faithful

this is our God

In the footsteps of Marco Polo

I just watched the documentary of two guys who traveled for two years following Marco Polo's journey from Venice to China and back.

http://www.thirteen.org/marcopolo/

What they did was amazing. But I kept thinking as I watched... where did they get the money?

different planes?

Sometimes its hard to talk about things because you and the person you're talking with are just going in completely different directions and just not understanding each other. Sometimes, one is too opinionated and not willing to listen. And some just like to jump to conclusions really fast because it makes them sound smarter.

I just wanted to talk.

Pickled Things

I don't know where I developed this but I looooooove pickled foods.

My favorite has to be cornichons -- small pickles that I had in paris that was served with dry-cured meat, I get them at whole foods every now and then.

Then my second favorite is a tie between dill pickles and kim chi. thinking about this is making my mouth water.

And third, balsamic vinegar, I can almost drink that stuff.

oh yum yum.
